I have the honour to report that the

Military Service Tribunal constituted under Ordinance No. 9

of 1918, which was forwarded in my Despatch No.191 of the 29th

June last, has been sitting since the 3rd. instant on three

days in each week.

Recently it dealt with the personnel in

the office of Messrs. Butterfield and Swire including the

Shipping Offices of the China Navigation Steamship Company and of the Ocean Steamship Company, and the Staff of the Taikoo

Sugar Refinery.

The Tribunal, upon which Mr. G. M. Young

did not sit on the occasion in question since he belongs to

the Firm of Messrs. Butterfield and Swire, unanimously

decided not to grant my exemption in the case of the follow-

-ing man:-

junior clerk in the Shipping Office of the

China Navigation Steamship Company.

Mr. R. W. McIntyre, aged 25, junior clerk in the

Mr. R. J. Rawlinson, aged 25, a clerk in the office

of the Taikoo Sugar Refinery.
